METAMORPHOSIS BATH BOMB REVIEW!

July 01, 2017

After months of hype from Lush fans everywhere, Metamorphosis bath bomb finally arrived at our stores! This spicy black bath bomb has been flying off the shelves and naturally, of course, I grabbed a couple for myself. Well, in order to truly sell them you have to try them first. Today, I'm going to lay all of my thoughts on this bath bomb out and you might even be a little surprised by what I think.

ON FIRST GLANCE:

Aesthetically, this product doesn't give much indication to the pastel colours that lurk with in, but that doesn't mean to say it isn't exciting to look at. I can't help but think of Game of Thrones, and to me, Metamorphosis looks like a cross between Dany's dragon eggs and the Iron Throne itself (NB: this bath bomb is not actually related to GoT at all.) The spiky black exterior is also covered with smoky black lustre, all plastic free of course, so it might leave your hands looking a little sooty after you've touched it. I think it looks beautiful; mysterious and alluring.
OVERALL: 9/10

SCENT:

Honestly, its the smell of this bath bomb that really got me intrigued by it. With a sultry and earthy combination of cinnamon leaf oil, black pepper and myrrh, its certainly unique to say the least. If you're a fan of Halloween exclusive, Lord of Misrule then you'll adore Metamorphosis, which is odd for me to say because LoM wouldn't be one of my faves! But there's just something about the scent of this bath bomb that makes me feel happy and that's all I can ask for when I want a big long soak in the bath.
OVERALL: 10/10

IN THE WATER:

Metamorphosis is a quick fizzer, until it reaches its foamy pink and orange core, so it won't take too long until it unleashes its pastel coloured insides into the water. I loved watching and waiting to see which colour was going to pop out next. However, the black glitter on the outside of the bath bomb stuck to the side of my tub, rather than floating in the water, and the cacophony of colours inside didn't exactly turn my water the nicest colour at the end. If it wasn't for these two minor points I'd ind it very difficult to find fault with this bath bomb.
OVERALL: 6/10

IN CONCLUSION:

PROS: Everything about this bath bomb sits right with me, from its outward appearance, to its colourful inside and unique smell. I think its utterly beautiful and there's definitely a gap in the LUSH market for a product like this for those who aren't a fan of citrus or sweet things. For a slightly smaller bath bomb it really packs a punch.

CONS: However, I can't ignore the lacklustre colour it leaves the water, and the severe lack of black lustre that stayed in the water. A very good scrub of the tub is needed after using Metamorphosis, which I always find takes away from a relaxing bathing experience.

OVERALL: With everything being said, I would definitely buy Metamorphosis again, if anything for the scent alone. I can't truly describe how beautiful it is. But, as I mentioned above, no amount of exciting rainbow colours can make up for the amount of effort it takes to clean a black stained tub and after I'd got out of the bath I felt a little grimy again. If the developers could find some way to stop that from happening, then Metamorphosis would receive 10s across the board, but until then it'll have to settle for a 7.

Thank you for reading this review and I hope you'll pop back and read future ones! Until then,
Rachel
